Meet the Teacher! Ms. Erin Nicolas joins the PJHS special education staff this year. Ms. Nicolas has lived in Pana her entire life, and she is excited about starting a new chapter working in her hometown! She attended Lakeland Community College and earned her Associates degree before transferring to ISU where she received a Bachelors in Education in 2009. She began subbing within in the Pana School District and found her love for working with special education students. Ms. Nicolas attended Greenville University in 2013 and earned her LBS1 endorsement. In 2015, Ms. Nicolas began teaching K-5 special education at South Fork Elementary before accepting the position here at PJHS. Ms. Nicolas enjoys spending time with her boyfriend Chris and his children as well as boating, riding wheelers, campfires, and any activities with her niece Eloise. Welcome, Ms. Nicolas!
Meet the Teacher! Welcome to PJHS Miss Britany Watrous. Miss Watrous will be teaching 7th grade math. She graduated from EIU in December of 2018 after student teaching with PJHS's Mr. Miller in the Fall. After graduation, Miss Watrous taught 7th grade reading at Edison Middle School in Champaign, but has made the move back to PJHS. She is looking forward to her wedding in November, and she also enjoys reading, unsweet tea, and all things Disney! Welcome (back) to PJHS Miss Watrous!

Introducing Mrs. Cindy McKinney, who will teach 8th Grade Math at PJHS. Mrs. McKinney and her family have just moved to Pana and are excited to be part of this community. She and her husband are both teachers, and they have 2 daughters. Mrs. McKinney grew up in a small town in the Bloomington-Normal area and attended college at Illinois Weslyan University. She has taught a variety of levels including elementary, junior high math, and high school. Mrs. McKinney likes to spend the majority of her time with her family, and they love to be outside playing and riding bikes. She also enjoys reading, music, and sports, and the family can often be found at school events throughout the year. Mrs. McKinney looks forward to working with the students of PJHS and meeting lots of new people. Welcome Mrs. McKinney!

Introducing Brooke Brandis. Ms. Brandis will teach P.E. at PJHS this year. Ms. Brandis grew up in Taylorville and graduated from Illinois College where she played volleyball for all four years of her college career. Currently, she coached club volleyball out of Springfield, IL for a team called Shock. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, especially her nephew Nash. She also enjoys working out and going on walks or car rides with her dog Eddie. Welcome Ms. Brandis!
Know a Pana alumni you would like to see honored? Pana is still accepting nominees for the 2019 Wall of Fame. Nominations will be accepted through the end of August. Forms can be mailed or dropped by the PHS office until the 31st.
PJHS staff all came together today for an unpacking party. Teachers and staff are working hard to get everything ready for the first day of school. A huge thanks to all the maintenance staff for their incredible efforts!! Oh and also, pizza was enjoyed by all.
New Student Chromebook Orientation (grades 6-12) and 6th Grade Orientation is Monday, August 12 at 5:30 in the PJHS auditorium. All students and parents/guardians new to the chromebook program must attend the orientation meeting, including students new to the district in grades 7-12 and all 6th grade students. A device cannot be issued without this meeting. Sixth grade orientation will begin at 6:30 after the Chromebook meeting. If you cannot attend, please call 562-6500 (JH) or 562-6600 (HS).
Freshmen Orientation by the numbers..... 84 students, 8 staff members, 6 service learners, 13 pizzas, 4 hours, 7 activities, 9 small groups. Not having any surprises on the first day of school......... Priceless!!
