Monday Mrs Ruppert's Animal Science and Mrs Perry's Horticulture students traveled to St Louis for a tour day at the St Louis Zoo & Botanical Gardens. We had a great day connecting things learned in class, experiencing new environments and having great discussion all day with experts and together as a group. Mrs Rupperts Animal Science class spent a portion of the morning at Stingray cove for the touch experience. Students talked with the care takers about identification of various rays, feeding & breeding management, general care & life span. Students also had an afternoon interview with the zoo vet liaison where they got to learn more about management and care of the animals, protocol for emergencies, sickness plans, breeding management and overall animal life at the zoo. Mrs Perry’s Horticulture class spent the first half of the day at the Botanical Gardens. Students toured the grounds and identified a lot of plants and flowers learned in class. They got to see a variety of flowers in bloom, discuss the seasons for those that were not, viewed various landscape designs and structures. They later met up with animal science at the zoo to tour around the grounds for the afternoon. Great group of students and was a perfect day for our outside tours and visits.

John Berns, Pana High School Senior, signed his departmental talent scholarship agreement to the Belmont University College of Music & Performing Arts (CMPA) on April 16th, 2024. Berns was accepted to study Music Education with plans to become a band director. He is beyond excited for this new chapter as a member of the Belmont Honors Program—a program recognizing academic excellence and great virtues—and the Vanderbilt Uni. Spirit of Gold Marching Band. John is pictured with his parents, Jim and Laurie Berns of Oconee, and Music Teachers, Angela Chase and Tony Hicks.

Mrs. Sloan's class got creative with STEM last week, building octahedrons with Strawbees! Two curious students even went beyond and made another 3D shape. Can you guess what it is? #STEMfun #Strawbees (Search "polyhedron" to learn more about these cool shapes!)

🎨What's Happening in the Art Room PHS Edition:🎨 Painting students a few weeks ago wrapped up their Pop Art Still Life paintings. I forgot about the Artist of the week...so representing PHS are Gwen and Paige! Both ladies did an excellent job composition wise with their custom painting projects. All art students chose their own candy and still life setup. This also includes sketching large and finishing the project with blending acrylic paint colors. Thank you for completing amazing artwork in the art room! #Becreative🎨 #Paintingstudents🧑🏻‍🎨 #GoPanthers🐾
