6th Grade Language Arts students participated in a week long Author Study. Students began by researching the authors and previewing books written by the featured authors. Students participated in a Zoom call with famous authors Kwame Alexander and Jason Reynolds where they learned strategies for generating ideas for story telling. Students then completed an "assignment" from Mr. Kwame Alexander where they used the strategies they learned from the authors to begin writing their own stories. Students are now rapidly checking out and reading books written by Reynolds and Alexander as well as taking time to write out their personal stories! 📝
